Hi there folks,
long time no see... lots of other things to do... time to answer some questions:
Aegedus a écrit :god, what a nice SIIA !!! Is it a home made restoration ?
Well thanks for the flowers (as we say in Germany) - and no, it's no home made restoration. It has been fixed (I do not use the word "restoration", since it has really NOT been a proper restoration) by a once famous now infamous garage in Germany. This is why I fully agree with
pikachu a écrit :I don't see it as an immaculate one
But hey, they made it running well and lookin' good, so WTF...
Aegedus a écrit :What drived you to a SIIA and especially a such imaculate collection car? What are you aiming now you have it, ready to run as long as you want every where you want, exactly why it has been named "the most versatile car" !!
I started my LR-career with the Defender, but had always THE classic LR in mind, Daktari-style - hell, just 3 weeks after I bought the Defender, I already found an S2 (but had no money), so I had to wait two years to find this one, and another year to buy it. Now that I own her three years I am aiming on doing a PROPER restoration (as soon as I find a nice house with an even nicer garage) - strip her down to the bone, öh, chassis. And about the MVC: just before I went on vacation, the battery of the Defender died, and when I came back from vacation, the battery of my scooter was also dead... so the only car left running was the S2!
pikachu a écrit : .. sorry but i'm the "nut and bolt " ayatollah haunting this website !
No, you are absolutely right - and
severebrainfailure a écrit :That seems to be a little bit harsh to a new arrival.
that's okay for me
There are many things in and on this car where I start shaking my head thinking "why the hell did they do it this way?"... so
severebrainfailure a écrit :I suspect the heater is installed like that to give you a little more legroom?
... honestly, I have no f***ing glue - I just know that the whole damn thing does not work!

So much from here - I will soon add some more recent pictures to "destroy the myth" around my S2

very nice car. Even if it's not totaly genuine, I found it very nice, and I'am not so specialised that I can find all the defaut, if there's defaut (and I dont understand all the words so that I can't know what they are talking about).

Welcome and waiting for others photos.

L'alu strié et le paillasson sont cousins germains et pourtant vous ne mettriez pas des bouts de paillasson sur les flancs de votre jolie série ... curieux non?
