Series 2 Club International Rally. 19 - 21 August 2005

Message par Jabbawocky »

Salut

As you have kindly invited us to your rally in September, we would like to return the compliment and invite you all to our International Rally at Sibbertoft, Northampton. The weekend is a family gathering of members of the Series 2 Club and last year we had two members join us from mainland Europe. The invitation is open to all members of your club, not only owners of Series 2's.

The weekend is based on a site with an offroad course, a field for camping (showers and Toilets provided), space for a marquee and space to run non damaging challenges for you and your Land Rover.

The cost for the Weekend is £45 per family. Booking forms and further information is available from shows@series2club.co.uk and I ask members from the euro zone to pay on arrival in Pounds Stirling.

Due to the strict food laws in the UK, no food or drink is provided. We do light large BBq's on the Saturday evening and members bring their own food to cook on them.

Remember, The British have no idea about food and need educating about your wonderful wines, cheeses, hams, etc. So bring plenty with you to educate us.

Amicalement Mick

Salut

'salaud' means sod or Bastard, according to my dictionary. One to avoid with my poor french accent, with a Yorkshire twist, when ordering lunch on a summers day whilst in France.

Forgot to say. you can see pictures of last years rally at http://www.series2club.co.uk/frame.htm and follow the Club National Link

Do you consider the drowning of a Landy in a muddy pond as a non damaging experience ??? :biglol:

Salut

The sump and cylinders were a little dirty (full of water and mud) after the drowning in the mud hole, but being the nice people that we are, the spanners came out. Over the next day the engine was stripped, cleaned and re-assembbled in time for the owner to drive her home. all in a weekends fun with the Series 2 Club.

The p38 Range Rover was a different story. That also stopped in the mud hole. We pulled her out, lifted the bonnet, nothing wrong there. Opened the drivers door, looked under the driver's seat at the electronics, closed the door and rang the AA (Rescue Service).

We also had two members running into each other on the way to the Rally, when the brakes went on a 109. That Landy arrived and left on a Rescue lorry.

All in a weekends fun.

Alicalement Mick

Annette and I had the immense pleasure of meeting you lot at Billing two or three years ago. That was when I witnessed two of you dancing a waltz in a floating 109 roof. We even got photographic proof of that.

As you may or may not know, Annette acquired a very nice 1960 S2 88 Santana. I also think she offered to come to your meeting if you come to our Bannegon meeting. This may, of course, be considered blackmail. We also threaten to bring wine, pâté, cured ham, snails and a local specialty called "gnôle". The latter can also be used to clean old diesel combustion chambers of carbon and soot deposit.

As others said, Manu knows all about food and wine, just ask him. He deserves it, bastard tricked Annette into promising him that I would be overhauling his engine and gearbox next week. His girlfriend, the lovely Séverine, however, is a Tee-Totaller.

Takeo.
