Hi
Can anyone tell me the rules on using black and silver number plates on my newly French registered 1972 series 3?
Also, where can I buy them?
Thanks,
Bil.

There is a life beyond Law ... As long as your motor COULD be registered as a 'collectible', police should not stop you and check whether your B&W plates are legal or not : I have been displaying them on my '73 Pinzgauer, which is 'normally' registered despite its manufacturing year and no-one has ever asked me anything, even though its reg. is under the new system (2 letters/3 digits/2 letters).
So, it's really up to you as the potential risk is really small

Hello Bouncybili,
If I was to be on the edge of illegality, I'd rather go for those old looking plates (raised numbers or not)...

yeah, or even paint white digits on a black pattern on the front wing !
Oops, does not work on your SIII, though...
Or better : if they stop you, talk to them in English: '
Jé ne parlez pas le francaise'
